Advanced Sailboat Navigation Course -ISSA Offshore Skipper- in the Dominican Republic

This level is for those who have completed the Intermediate level with us or have equivalent experience and knowledge.  The prerequisite is to have been at sea for a total of at least 24 days in command of a sailing vessel or as a watch leader on at least 2 voyages and in 2 different maritime zones.

The advanced course lasts 5 days, all the time on board . It sets sail at 9am from Barahona in the south of the island and sails to Saona Island.  Here each participant will be captain of different daytime and nighttime sections and more advanced navigation techniques will be applied.

Departs at 9am from Barahona.

ADVANCED COURSE

Long distance sailing

In the Advanced Course, participants are captains, taking turns during the days and nights of the course. More advanced exercises will be practiced and what was learned in previous courses and workshops will be put into practice. Individual night shifts will be done and more advanced theoretical and practical topics will be covered.

At the end of this course you will obtain your certificate to process the international ISSA Offshore Skipper license.

The boat used depends on the number of participants in the course, we have boats available for groups of 2-8 people.

We commonly use the 45-55 foot monohull sailboats listed on our website.
